Change is difficult for many people. Some people “hate” change. Some “fear” change. Stepping out of a comfort zone can be frightening. Changing anything in our lives can be challenging. On the other hand, NOT making certain changes can be MORE risky.

My family moved at least once or twice a year throughout my entire childhood. Changing schools, making new friends, catching up on school lessons, getting to know the neighborhood, and accepting the new house as a home, were all par for the course.
• I learned how to pack quickly at a young age.
• I learned that moving was the lifestyle.
• I learned how to disconnect from relationships at the drop of a hat with little or no emotion since relationships are transient and accountability is nil.

Change was synonymous with insecurity.

 Does it make you nervous when the season line up on TV changes?
 Are you particularly anxious during an election year?
 Do you have serious buyer’s remorse if you make a major purchase?
 Is it unreasonable to expect you to “blindly” accept procedure changes at work?
 What about getting a new doctor?
 How about a new belief?

What if I move and I don’t like the new apartment?
What if I get married and the marriage doesn’t last?
What if I buy a car and it turns out to be a lemon?
What if I take a new job and I don’t measure up?
What if I quit using and then fall off the wagon?
What if I trust in Jesus and He lets me down?
What if I let Him down?

If your “What if’s” are keeping you from making healthy changes, you could be in a rut. Not just a rut, but a hole—a deep pit! Contrary to how it may seem, there is no security in a pit!
If your “What if’s” are keeping you from making Godly choices, then your lack of change is causing you to make UNGODLY choices.

Choose to make healthy changes and Godly choices TODAY!
• “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart | Ezekiel 36:26, NLT
For God to give you a new heart…now THAT’S a huge change!

But you must make some choices first…
• “Now choose life, so that you and your children may live” | Deuteronomy 30:19, NIV
Choose life…choose Jesus Christ. And choose to obey!
Find your security in Christ…Jesus says:
• “If you love me, you will obey what I command” | John 14:15
• “If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love” | John 15:10

Choosing to obey God will require you to make some changes. These changes will bring security rather than insecurity to your heart, as you remain in Christ’s love.
